" Kailin Yong is a violinist/multi-instrumentalist/composer/educator and most of all, he is a global citizen and ambassador of peace who believes firmly in the power of music and love to affect profound and positive changes in the world.
Originally from Singapore and trained in Austria at the Vienna Academy Of Music, Kailin achieved Artist Diploma for violin performance and chamber music. He has spent much of the last 20 years living and traveling in the US and Europe, exploring music from around the world. The result is the birth of an original sound and music that is generous, colorful and intimate, that celebrates the diversity of mankind as well as lends a voice to our collective plea for sustainable peace and love.
Known to friends and peers as the “fiddler for peace”, he was the recipient of the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin in 2004 for his efforts in building cultural bridges through music.
Kailin is the founding member of several pan-cultural musical groups including the Kailin Yong Peace Project, NuMundo and most recently, the Qilin Trio based in Singapore.
As an educator, Kailin teaches music as a living and breathing language; mixing improvisation, innovation and tradition to help students find their own unique voices. He has developed a creative and comprehensive method called The Tao Of Strings to help classically trained string players and others make music "outside the box". "
