Cello Teachers !

" Eunice entered Nangyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 2012 to pursue her diploma in Cello Performance, under the tutelage of SSO cellist Zhao Yu Er. She started learning the cello when she was 13 and attained distinction for her ABRSM grade 8 cello examination. She also plays the piano and was awarded distinction in grade 8 ABRSM.
Eunice participated in the Singapore Youth Orchestra from 2007 to 2011. She was also the president and student conductor of Dunman Secondary School strings orchestra. An active member of various chamber groups of different genres in the music scene, she has performed for the NAFA orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Music Makers, Re:mix, StringWerkz and worked with many other chamber groups for different projects. Apart from that, she coaches the cello in schools and has private students. "

" Hsiao Shan was awarded full scholarship in 2013 to pursue her graduate degree in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (NUS) under the principal cellist of Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Pei-Sian Ng. She is presently on their Young Artist Programme. She previously studied under Herminia Illano (former principal cellist of SSO) and Zhao Yu Er. Currently in her final year at SOTA, Hsiao Shan regularly performs solo, chamber and orchestral works at the SOTA Arts Festival and other school events, and has led the cello section of the SOTA String Ensemble since 2009. She has also played in cello masterclasses with David Commanday(USA) Franz Bartolomey (Vienna) and Inbal Meggido (Israel). As a budding chamber musician, she was awarded Most Outstanding Performer (Chamber Music) at SOTA and Most Outstanding Player (String Section) by Singapore National Youth Orchestra. Hsiao Shan also participated in several chamber masterclasses, both locally and abroad with Dr. John Marshall, Dr. Thomas Lymenstull and Professor Bernard Lanskey. Alongside her SOTA string quartet, she was given many opportunities to perform for events, including the 2009 MICA Cultural Mendallion Awards at The Istana. Hsiao Shan has also been teaching privately for 2 years, and coaches the cello and bass section of Singapore Chinese Girls’ School (SCGS). "

" Eddie achieved a distinction for Diploma in Cello Performance (DipABRSM) in 2009, within 5 years of learning the instrument, and was featured on the High Scorers' Concert as one of the most outstanding cellists to have aced the examination. Since then, he has dedicated himself to perform in the Chinese and Symphony Orchestras. Some of the great maestros he has worked with include tenor Jose Carreras and conductor Eji Oue. Currently, Eddie is actively teaching students aged from 9 to adults. He is known for his patient approach to students and willingness to help students to the best of his capabilities. "

" Jun Sian achieved Distinction in Cello ABRSM Grade 8 in 2012 He holds the following positions with the following orchestras: principal cellist with the Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra, principal cellist and section leader with the Singapore Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra, as well as plays in the Philharmonic Orchestra. Between 2007-2009, Jun Sian achieved the Gold and Gold with Honours Awards in Singapore Youth Festival competition. "
